ABOUT
In 2010, Alana (October Cottage) and Justin realized their dream to open a hands-on residential care home when Alana's grandmother passed away, leaving her home, already handicapped accessible, available to fulfill their dream of opening a compassionate home and caring environment that would foster the well-being of its residents with respect, dignity and customized care. Justin, Alana and alternate caregivers are experienced and committed to ensuring a high-quality of life for all cherished residents. The children, Troy, Ava, Eli, Etta and Ivan are also what makes the house a home and definitely helps to keep the residents youthful!
They are the cherry on top!

The Village
Justin
Adult Foster Care Provider
Justin was raised in a large family and is a natural caregiver, a trait he got from his mother. He is grateful for the opportunity to make the residents smile and enjoys involving them in activities they may have enjoyed at an earlier time in their life when possible. He is the self-named resident "activities director" and thoroughly enjoys it.
He enjoys the outdoors, spending time with family, fishing, watching movies, and ATV riding in his spare time.

Elly
Family/Caregiver (Fellow Provider)
Alana has been caregiving for many years, starting with a part-time job she held at a local nursing home during her high school years. When her father was diagnosed with cancer, her grandmother severe Parkinson's and her grandfather a severe stroke, she cared for all of them until they passed. It was during this time when she decided on her career path.
Alana exhibits a true commitment to caring for others. She obtained her provider license through the Department of Human Services and Washington County in the summer of 2010 and has been providing excellent care ever since. "I love being able to care for people outside of the confines of a nursing home, on a one-to-one basis. I believe the home environment supports vitality and allows our residents to live with respect, dignity and comfort."

Alana enjoys family time, photography, gardening, the outdoors, horse-back riding and reading in her spare time.

Family/Caregiver
Josiah is an alternate caregiver. He is Justin's youngest brother of 5. He is very caring and compassionate and "our man Friday" who does whatever needs to be done to care for the residents at the drop of a hat.
He enjoys music, watching movies, ATV riding, and spending time with his 13 nieces and nephews in his spare time.
Family/Caregiver
Raine is an alternate caregiver and family. She has been with us since 2017 and enjoys the personable care she has time to offer in our small setting. She likes to incorporate different hobbies and activities according to each residents' preference as able so they can continue to enjoy the things they have always loved. She has also been named one of the best bakers here at SCE of delicious, sweet treats! She is our resident nail artiste!
Raine enjoys spending time with family, music of all kinds, and make-up artistry in her spare time. She especially loves to spoil her nieces and nephews.
Family/Caregiver
Audrey is Justin and Josiah's mother, but also has a lifetime of experience in caregiving. She ran a daycare out of her home while raising her five boys, became a nanny for 4 children for several years, then becoming their grandmother's caregiver, and now she is one of our loving caregivers here spending time with our kids and the residents. Audrey enjoys being with her family, baking cakes, sewing/embroidering, and gardening in her spare time.
Caregiver
Elly has been with us since early 2020. She is a great asset to our family, we're not quite sure what we'd do without her! It is evident that she cares very much about giving the very best care to all of our residents and she pays very close attention to detail. She is someone we can all rely on, residents and fellow caregivers alike. She is always upbeat and very much enjoys laughing with the residents.
Paige
Caregiver
Paige is one of the team here, and she has been here since 2021, she has the very best work ethic, and she is so wonderful with the residents, she is a natural! She is gentle and compassionate and doesn't skip a beat. We are so glad she found her way to us!
She helps us out when she can while working toward her nursing degree.
Crystal
Caregiver
Crystal is a face you may see around here; she has experience in caregiving having worked as a CNA at a bigger local facility, and while she brings that experience and skill to us, she just loves how personable our setting is, how family oriented it is, and the great care the residents are able to receive.
She is an AMAZING photographer and helps us out in between all of her photog demands because it is so rewarding spending time with our elderly folks. She is very thorough, and she makes sure everyone receives the very best care.

In her spare time, she makes the most delicious Sourdough bread for us! She also enjoys spending time with her family, and nurturing all of her plants and her dogs and kitties.
Ava
Family/Caregiver
Ava is Justin and Alana's daughter. She has been family to all of our residents since we began this adventure back in 2010.
So, to say she knows a thing or two about it is an understatement. She's recently graduated however and taking on a bit more responsibility where you will see her a bit more often. She is a natural caregiver. She really enjoys engaging with the residents in so many different ways trying her hand at so many different games, crafts, music, dancing, and baking.
She always has a smile on her face and looks forward to making each day a great one.
Ava enjoys music and will often play her guitar and sing for the residents, playing alongside some of our piano playing folks.
