September Cottage Eldercare was founded in 2010 by Alana Sundberg and Justin Snell, two people that shared a vision of creating a compassionate and caring home environment that would foster the well-being of its residents with respect, dignity and customized care. Our caregivers are experienced and committed to ensuring a high-quality of life for all of our cherished residents.
Alana has been caregiving for many years, starting with a part-time job she held at a local nursing home during her high school years. When her father was diagnosed with cancer, her grandmother severe Parkinson's and her grandfather a severe stroke, she cared for all of them until they passed. It was during this time when she decided on her career path.
Alana exhibits a true commitment to caring for others. She realized her dream to open September Cottage Eldercare when her grandmother passed away, leaving her home, already handicapped accessible, available for Alana to fulfill her dream of opening her grandparents home to care for other elderly residents. She received her provider license through the Department of Human Services in the summer of 2010 and has been providing excellent care in her home ever since. "I love being able to care for people outside of the confines of a nursing home, on a one-to-one basis. I believe the home environment supports vitality and allows our residents to live with respect, dignity and comfort."
Alana enjoys being with her family, photography, gardening, scrapbooking, the outdoors, horse-back riding and reading in her spare time.
Justin has a large family and is a natural caregiver. He is grateful for the opportunity to make the residents smile and enjoys involving them in activities they may have enjoyed at an earlier time in their life when possible. He is known as our resident "activities director".
He enjoys the outdoors, spending time with his family, fishing, watching movies, and ATV riding in his spare time.
Our five children Troy, Ava, Eli, Etta and Ivan are also what makes our house a home, they help to keep our residents youthful!
Josiah is a regular caregiver here at September Cottage Eldercare. He is Justin's youngest brother of 5. He is very caring and compassionate and "our man Friday" who does whatever needs to be done to care for the residents at the drop of a hat.
He enjoys music, watching movies, ATV riding, and spending time with his 12 nieces and nephews in his spare time.
Audrey is Justin and Josiah's mother, but also has a lifetime of experience in caregiving. She ran a daycare out of her home while raising her five boys, became a nanny for 4 children for several years, then becoming their grandmothers caregiver, and now she is one of our loving caregivers here at September Cottage Eldercare. Audrey enjoys being with her family, baking cakes, sewing/embroidering, and gardening in her spare time.
Raine is also a regular caregiver here at September Cottage Eldercare. She has been with us since 2017 and enjoys the personable care she has time to offer in our small setting. She likes to incorporate different hobbies and activities according to each residents' preference as able so they can continue to enjoy the things they have always loved. She has also been named one of the best bakers here at SCE of delicious sweet treats!
Raine enjoys spending time with family, music of all kinds, and make-up artistry in her spare time. She especially loves to spoil her nieces and nephews.
